This is a wine laced with history: Michael Wenzel's father and grandfather smuggled Furmint rootstock through the Iron Curtain in order to plant them in Rust. Michael now works with 3 out of the 10 hectares of Furmint planted in Austria. Furmint Aus dem Quartz is his entry-level Furmint and a benchmark for the variety. Expect apple, quince, and pear from this wine, with a crisp minerality to finish.
