Puszta Libre is an iconic Austrian red from Gols in Burgenland that pays homage to the quaffable style of light French Beaujolais. A blend of Zweigelt and Sankt Laurent, the grapes are sourced from the Puszta, the wide Pannonian lowlands. To achieve its signature freshness, a portion of the fruit undergoes a five-day carbonic fermentation before ageing in steel tanks for six months. It is bottled without added sulphur, resulting in a vibrant, "free" wine that has become a staple of the natural wine world.
The character is bright and incredibly juicy, led by flavours of sour cherry and blackberry with a subtle hint of spice. It is designed to be easy-going and highly drinkable, featuring a lively acidity that makes it perfect for a "glouglou" session. As the label "Gekühlt Servieren" suggests, this wine is best served straight from the fridge. It is a refreshing, uncomplicated red that offers exceptional value and pure drinking pleasure.
