Christian Tschida Himmel Auf Erden II Maischevergoren
Vintage: 2021
Origin: Burgenland, Austria
Grapes: Scheurebe, Muscat
Alcohol: 12%
This wine's name, Maischevergoren, translates to "skin contact" in English, providing you with a sense as to what to expect from it. This vintage is crisper in style, less tannin-heavy, and more like a white wine than previous vintages. Along with the delightful aromas of peach, lemon, grapefruit, and herbs, it is also herbaceous and complex. Grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, and crushed by foot. Christian's one and only orange wine are produced by letting some of the skins stay in contact with the juice for two weeks and some for four. Without racking, the juice ferments in big barrels using native yeast. It ages for a year in 500- to 1500-litre barrels before being bottled without fining, filtering, or sulphur addition.
