While Tokaj is famous for its luscious dessert wines, Hungarian vigneron Attila Homonna uses this bottling to prove just how spectacular the region's dry whites can be. Sourced from volcanic soil plots packed with 40- to 80-year-old vines, this relies on a classic local blend of Furmint and Hárslevelű. Attila keeps things simple in the cellar, crushing destemmed fruit in a traditional basket press and ageing the wine on its lees in old oak barrels until bottling to let the pure fruit character lead the way.
The blend strikes a brilliant balance, pairing Furmint's sharp, driving acidity with the velvety texture, soft honey, and fragrant floral notes of Hárslevelű. Those deep volcanic soils shine through on the palate, leaving a distinct, mouthwatering minerality that cuts right through the richness. Crisp, complex, and deeply refreshing, it makes an ideal aperitif and pairs effortlessly with fresh fish, oysters, or light chicken dishes. This bottle is your chance to easily see what almost a decade of time can bring out in a bottle of Tokaj.
