Ton Rouge du Lac is a lovely slice of Savoie history in a bottle. Winemaker Damien Bastian Goddard returned to his roots in Marignan, near Lake Geneva, to establish his vineyards in 2019—the very same area where his grandfather André once farmed. For this pure Pinot Noir, Damien uses semi-carbonic maceration for two weeks to really bring out the fruit, followed by spontaneous fermentation. He then lets the wine settle and mature in barrels for around 12 months.
The 2022 vintage is all about elegance and tension. It is bright and lively on the nose, packed with notes of cherries and blackcurrants. On the palate, you get plenty of delicacy alongside fresh, crunchy red berries and a whisper of floral notes. It is a precise, vibrant red that feels incredibly pure and alive—a perfect example of low-intervention winemaking done right.
