Christian Tschida crafts this vibrant field blend from his most prized forest hilltop site, where 60-year-old vines root into a mix of warm schist and cool limestone. Centred on Blaufränkisch alongside over twenty co-planted varieties, the fruit is harvested together and processed using Tschida’s signature "Pink Maceration" technique, a method that blurs the boundary between a dark rosé and a light-bodied red. He relies on a long, gentle extraction in large oak barrels with native yeast, bottling the wine completely unfined, unfiltered, and with zero added sulphur.
Striking a brilliant carmine-pink in the glass, it delivers an aromatic rush of red cherries, blackcurrants, and raspberries underpinned by smoky minerality and a hint of walnut. On the palate, juicy sour cherry and dark berry fruit meet fine, soft tannins, a touch of leafy spice, and a bright mineral drive. Refreshing yet surprisingly complex, it sits comfortably alongside grilled poultry, charcuterie, or spiced vegetable dishes.
