Christian Tschida’s iconic 'Brutal' red is built around Pinot Noir with a tiny splash of Blaufränkisch added to the mix for the 2023 vintage. Hand-harvested fruit is destemmed and gently foot-crushed, fermenting naturally on wild yeasts in large wooden barrels without any racking. After a year of quiet ageing on its lees, the wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with zero added sulphur, preserving all the raw, unfiltered energy Tschida is famous for.
In typical Tschida fashion, it opens with a playful, tiny prickle of spritz that quickly settles into a bright, elegant rhythm. The brief skin contact gives the wine a glowing ruby colour and a light, lifted frame packed with tart cherry, fresh raspberry, and a subtle earthy edge. Soft on its feet yet surprisingly complex, it is a brilliant, highly gluggable red that works best served with a light chill alongside charcuterie, seared duck, or roasted beetroot.
