Father-and-son team Bernard and Arthur Bohn tap into three centuries of family heritage in Alsace to craft this easygoing skin-contact white. Combining organically grown Riesling and Sylvaner from the schist slopes of Reichsfeld, the hand-picked fruit gets a brief period of skin maceration before fermenting with wild yeasts. Aged for two years in large wooden foudres, it is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with zero added sulphur. The old-school label honours a historic postcard of the estate, celebrating the forgotten tradition of hauling wine in bulk by horse-drawn carriage.
It makes a fantastic entry point into natural skin-contact bottles, delivering subtle texture alongside delicate pea flower, ripe apricot, and juicy pear flavours. The brief skin contact leaves a gentle grip of tannin on the finish, while the schist terroir adds a distinct mineral backbone. Bright, precise, and wonderfully long on the palate, this unfussy white is just as good on its own as it is paired with your favourite Asian dishes.
