L'Equilibriste Blanc is a unique expression of Chardonnay from a one-hectare parcel in Talant, which Marc Soyard planted in 2018. While the city of Dijon wanted him to stick to existing sites, Marc chose this spot across the valley to explore an abandoned terroir and protect against localised weather risks like frost. True to its name—inspired by a local circus festival and the idea of a "razor's edge" balance—this wine is vinified entirely without added sulphur and with a very light touch. It is aged for about six months in used barrels and bottled early in the spring to keep the fruit as fresh and lively as possible.
The 2023 vintage is golden and bright, showing a delicate and captivating nose full of yellow fruits and a hint of brioche. On the palate, it is remarkably fresh and food-friendly, offering a mix of citrus peel, pear, and green apple notes. It stands out from typical Burgundy Chardonnays by being more liberated and energetic, featuring a superb limestone minerality and a clean, flavoursome finish. It is a precise and accessible white that is best enjoyed young while its vibrant fruit character is at its peak.
