This Savagnin comes from vines planted in 1991 and 1993, rooted in clay soil mixed with blue marl, and gets the orange wine treatment with 10 days of maceration (36% whole cluster). Following harvesting (September 2022) and maceration, the wine is split between raw amphora and 600-litre concrete eggs (a 59/41 split), aged for 10 months in the ouillé style (topped up) before bottling. What emerges is a wonderful balance of finesse and minerality with complex aromatics of jasmine, ginger, and spices that showcase Savagnin's versatility beyond the traditional oxidative styles. The maceration adds texture and depth without overwhelming the grape's inherent elegance, creating an orange wine that's full of terroir flavour and has real ageing potential. This is Jura winemaking that bridges tradition and experimentation – respectful of the variety whilst exploring what skin contact can bring to Savagnin's already compelling character.
