The name Ponzichter, or "bean grower," refers to the German-speaking minority in the Sopron region who traditionally planted vegetables between their vine rows. While once a practical way to farm, this method is now recognised as a clever biodynamic practice that naturally enriches the soil. This light red is a blend of Pinot Noir, Zweigelt, and Cabernet Franc grown across both Austrian and Hungarian soils. The grapes are hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented before spending 18 months in very old oak barrels.
This is a juicy and summery red, designed in a "glouglou" style that is built for easy drinking. It offers bright notes of cherry and raspberry alongside earthy undertones and a subtle touch of spice. Slightly fizzy on the tip of the tongue with a refreshing acidity, it is a fun and approachable wine that is best served chilled. Whether you are heading to the park or sitting down for a pizza, it provides excellent value and pure drinking pleasure.
