Henri Chauvet traded his corporate desk for the steep hills of Boudes in Auvergne, and the results are impressive. This Gamay is a blend of his finest plots, grown on volcanic basalt and blue marl soils. After whole bunch maceration and nine months in oak barrels, the wine emerges with a distinct smoky character and a mineral base.

It is a complex bottle that balances intensity with a light, effortless feel. You will find layers of cassis, cherries and strawberries mixed with floral notes of violets and dried rose. There is even a touch of pine and Sichuan pepper on the nose. With very low added sulphur and plenty of structure, this is a sophisticated red that will also age beautifully.
