Grapes: Pinot Noir

Despite the name translating to "ordinary life", this Pinot Noir is anything but basic. Grown on the volcanic slopes of Boudes, the grapes benefit from a mix of basalt and blue marl soils that add a distinct mineral depth. Henri uses whole-cluster fermentation and ages the wine for a year in oak barrels to bring out a sophisticated touch of spice.
It is a translucent, elegant red with a profile of sour cherry and raspberry, backed by smoky and savoury undertones. The tannins are silky, and the acidity is bright, making it an excellent match for coq au vin or a rich mushroom risotto. This is a refined bottle that is drinking well now but also has great potential to age beautifully over time.
