Crafted by Hugo Vercasson, an exciting young winemaker handling a tiny two-hectare plot of steep, high-altitude terraces in the northern Rhône, this wine is a true labor of love. Because the dramatic slopes require serious commitment, almost all the organic farming is done by hand. For this Syrah, the grapes are whole-bunch crushed and left to soak for 15 days, followed by nine months of ageing in clay amphorae. It is then bottled completely unfined, unfiltered, and with no added sulphur.
The result is a deep, rich red packed with savoury character that mirrors its rugged terroir. Expect a juicy mouthful of ripe blackberries and blueberries alongside hints of cracked black pepper, wet stones, and a touch of delicate smoke. With its velvety texture and fine tannins, it is a beautifully structured bottle that you can enjoy right now or keep in the cellar to evolve over time.
