Joachim's second vintage of Aligoté places him firmly amongst the best in the region, which is impressive considering Maison Skyaasen is still a young micro-négoce project. After leaving finance to pursue winemaking full-time following a harvest with Nick Harbour in 2017, Joachim has quickly developed a clear style – mainly whole cluster vinifications, very gentle extractions, no sulphite additions during ferment or élevage, and no corrections, fining or filtration, just a touch of sulphur at bottling. This Aligoté is lean and tense yet generous in flavour with top length. Leesy yet crisp with green apple, lemon zest, and grapefruit coming through alongside citrusy and floral notes. There's a lovely mineral finish with mild nutty notes that adds complexity. Refreshing with vibrant acidity and a clean finish – perfect for warm evenings or casual gatherings, or paired with light dishes. Joachim's progression as a winemaker is absolutely astounding, and we're honoured to bring these wines on board at such an early stage.
