The Chardonnay for this wine comes from the Grandes Gouttes parcel, which is actually in Meursault on the southern border, right above Puligny – just a few hundred metres below the Premier Cru vineyard Les Charmes. Limestone dominates here, and older vines provide a depth and concentration that punches well above its 'Bourgogne Côte d'Or' designation. Joachim works with mainly whole cluster vinifications, very gentle extractions, no sulphite additions, and no corrections, fining or filtration – his approach creates something pure and straightforward with notes of fresh lemon, wet stone, and white flowers. Clean and tractable with no make-up on the palate, this is already excellent today and will continue to develop for 10 years or more. Serve at 15°C, ideally opened an hour before serving. Joachim's progression as a winemaker is absolutely astounding, considering he only started in 2017 after leaving finance, and his wines are an absolute standout despite the relative youth of his project – we're honoured to bring these on board at such an early stage.
