Furmint is famously a bit of a diva in the vineyard, but the results here prove it is completely worth the effort. Sourced from the barren limestone soils of two small villages on the northern edge of Lake Balaton, this is easily the most energetic and punchy wine in Peter Nagyváradi's lineup. It is a step up in refinement compared to his Perm Chardonnay, offering pure clarity and serious focus.
The grapes were pressed as whole bunches with their stems using a manual hand press, then fermented with wild yeasts and left to rest for 11 months in used oak barrels. Expect a sharp and zippy white bursting with ripe lime, juicy pear, and crisp green apple. There is a lovely herbal spice running through it, alongside notes of lemon balm and a clean, slightly salty mineral finish. Bottled with zero filtering, fining, or added sulphur, it is a direct and uncompromising drink that keeps evolving with every sip.
