Safari is a new introductory wine from the Schödl siblings – Viktoria, Mathias, and Leonhard – who've taken over the family estate, converted it to biodynamics, and are now rewriting the story of the Weinviertel with world-class wines. This blend of various white varieties spends a bit of time on its skins to give it a lovely mild orange colour, creating what they call a "breakfast wine" – refreshing and easy drinking for any time of day. In the nose, there's a bomb of grapefruit and clementine, whilst the palate is super zesty with lime and grapefruit zest, some apple and peach too. It's super immediate with texture and layered flavours whilst staying remarkably fresh – an absolute winner of an orange wine that shows their skill at making something approachable yet interesting.
