If you’re a fan of Pinot Noir, you need to get to know Kadarka. This indigenous Hungarian grape is often called the "Pinot Noir of Eastern Europe" for its light, elegant, and delicate profile. This 2021 vintage from Géza Galán is a masterclass in finesse, sourced from 30-year-old vines grown on the loess and clay soils of Mohács.
Géza employs a "hamburger method" of winemaking, layering whole clusters and hand-destemmed berries, to preserve the fruit as fresh and aromatic as possible. The wine is aged for 11 months in a mix of oak and fibreglass without any racking or additives. It’s a savoury, mouthwatering red packed with forest floor notes, red berries, and a punchy kick of black pepper. Best served slightly chilled when you want something complex yet refreshing.
