Dynamite comes from a specific strip of vines sitting right on the border between Grand Pré and Morgon. Even though it carries the Morgon name, the wine feels like it has the soul of a Fleurie, largely because it is produced from organic vines that are between 80 and 100 years old. Yann uses a very careful process here, chilling the grapes overnight before a full carbonic maceration with native yeasts. The wine is aged in old 225-litre barrels for several months, with no added sulphur, to ensure the finished product stays true to the vineyard's schist and manganese soils.
The name is a great fit for the wine, which offers plenty of structure and tension. You can expect a deep aromatic profile of blackberry, black cherry, and a touch of damp earth. On the palate, it feels compact and firm without ever becoming heavy, leading into a powerful and explosive finish. While it is a full-bodied and restrained Morgon, it is best enjoyed paired with rare meat and spicier dishes. Drinking nicely now, this bottle will benefit from a touch more bottle age.
